Abstract
Ce mémoire fait l’objet d’une exposition au centre d’art actuel Langage Plus en janvier 2020. C'est le résultat de nombreux voyages, de rencontres, de lectures, d’expérimentations et, surtout, de dessins réalisés suivant une même intention globale, celle de repenser la nordicité du Québec comme ma propre pratique artistique paysagiste. Louis-Edmond Hamelin, Jean Désy, Daniel Chartier et Serge Bouchard ont non seulement, par leurs écrits, contribués à ce travail, mais également à la prise de conscience qui l’a initié, à savoir notre décalage face au territoire nordique québécois et aux communautés qui l'habitent, à sa faune, sa flore et son histoire, ainsi qu’aux enjeux politiques qui en découlent. Par « notre », j’entends moi-même et les autres Québécois habitant le sud de la province. En tant que Québécoise qui n’appréciait pas l'hiver et qui n’avait que trop peu foulé le sol au nord du 49e parallèle, je cherchais des réponses. L'écriture, en grande partie réalisée à bord d'un voilier entre Charlevoix et la Côte-Nord, m'a permis de pousser plus loin mes réflexions, celles-ci appuyées et influencées par la rencontre d’artistes comme Chantal Harvey, Eveline Boulva et Sara Maloney, ou encore par la lecture d’autrices telles que Wendy Red Star, Natasha Kanapé Fontaine, Marie-Andrée Gill et Joséphine Bacon. Ces réflexions se sont ensuite matérialisées sous la forme d’une exposition, où ma pratique paysagiste se déploie en dessins et en photographies installatives.
