Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Catheter'-related infections (CRIs) are a grorving problern in the hernodialysis population. There is therefore an increased need for an effective catheter locking solution for CRI prevention.Cunent antibiotic locking solutions can prevent infection, but rniclobial resistance nray be a significant lirnitation. Our solution containing ethanol and trisodiurn citrate (TSC) should eliminate this concern while providing anticoagulation in the catheter between tleahnents. In this r vn'o sludy, we hypothesized that our novel ethanol/TSC solution would kill bacteria in culture and prevent biofilm formation by organisms that cause hernodialysis CRL Using a t.,vo pafi expedmental procedule, testing a suspension ofbacteria in culture and testing biofilm growth using the Calgary Biofihn Device, we confimed that our ethanol/TSC catheter locking solution kills olganisms in culture within I hour and prevents biofilm fonnation. These results are very promising and further clinical investigations are wan'anted in the hemodialysis population.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
