Abstract
Som en del av Norges Banks 200-årsjubileumsprosjekt har det vært ønskelig å få bedre innsikt i kredittgivningen i Norge i tiden etter etableringen av det organiserte bankvesenet. Spørsmålene som vi har ønsket å besvare i dette notatet er: Hvilke sektorer ga lån? Var det store enkeltlångivere blant de institusjonelle og personlige långiverne? Notatet gjengir resultatene av en sektoranalyse av tinglyste pantelån i sorenskriveriene i Christiania, Trondhjem, Strinda og Selbu og Nedre Romerike for utvalgte år. For alle fire sorenskriveriene dekkes årene 1825, 1835 og 1845. I tillegg til disse tre årene dekkes 1823 og 1824 for Christiania, 1824 for Trondhjem og 1855 og 1865 for Strinda og Selbu og Nedre Romerike. Analysen av samlet pantelånskreditt tinglyst i de fire sorenskriveriene omfatter årene 1825, 1835 og 1845. Vi har i alt kartlagt 3 297 pantelån i de fire sorenskriveriene. Pantelånene fordeler seg med 1 157 på Christiania, 791 på Trondhjem, 744 på Strinda og Selbu og 605 på Nedre Romerike. I tillegg til dataene fra de fire ovennevnte sorenskriveriene viser vedlegg 2 sektorfordelingen av 282 pantelån i Bergen i 1825. Siden vi bare har data for 1825 for Bergen er byen holdt utenom analysen av samlet pantelånskreditt. Kilden for pantelånene er digitaliserte pantebøker publisert på nett av Arkivverket/Digitalarkivet. Kreditt i form av diskonteringskreditter og handelskreditter er ikke med i vår analyse.
