Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

»-- « The plastic industry has been criticised for many years because of the harmful impact its products have on the world's ecosystems. To cope with the environmental challenges of this industry, different eco-friendly plastics have been developed, such as biodegradable, biosourced and compostable plastics. These materials aim to reduce the negative impacts of plastic products on the environment. However, although these types of plastics offer clear environmental advantages, they are still very little used compared to conventional plastics. In fact, a very small proportion of the world's plastic products are made from eco-friendly plastics. The purpose of this research is to understand the factors that influence the commercialization of products made from eco-friendly plastics. This research also aims to identify the differences in perceptions between sellers and buyers regarding the commercialization of products made from eco-friendly plastics. The literature review began by identifying the theoretical factors affecting the commercialization of products made from eco-friendly plastics, focusing on the following themes: the plastic industry value chain, the types of plastics, the marketing process in the plastic industry, the factors influencing the commercialization of plastic products, and the factors influencing the commercialization of eco-friendly products. We were able to identify 18 factors and 24 sub-factors, which enabled us to develop a theoretical model by dividing them into four factor categories: 1) technical factors, 2) commercial and logistical factors, 3) relational factors, and 4) organizational and environmental factors. This research presents a qualitative methodological approach, based on individual interviews with buyers and sellers of the Quebec plastics industry. The aim of this approach, which included two groups of respondents, was to compare the perceptions of sellers with those of buyers to enrich our research. The sample of this study was made up of 19 professionals, including 10 sellers, representing plastic processors, and 9 buyers, representing original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). The findings of this research validated the relevance of the factors identified in the literature. They also enabled us to identify 10 additional factors and 21 sub-factors. These will contribute to the literature as they were added to an integrative model (TROC model) bringing together all the factors influencing the commercialization of products made from eco-friendly plastics. The use of a methodological approach including two group of respondents also confirmed our results and enriched our study by identifying the differences in perceptions between sellers and buyers. We were able to determine that sellers and buyers share similar perceptions on most of the identified factors. Of the 73 factors, only 11 were subject to differences in perception. As a follow-up to this work, it would be interesting to carry out similar qualitative research to validate the relevance of the identified factors and the TROC integrating model within more targeted sectors of the plastic industry, or with other types of eco-friendly products. -- Mot(s) clé(s) en anglais : eco-friendly plastics, commercialization, B2B marketing, industrial marketing, influencing factors. »--

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
