Abstract
Introducción: El Balonmano es un deporte que requiere de una serie de habilidades para conseguir un adecuado desempeño como agilidad, fuerza y velocidad entre otras. La participación en deportes en una ocupación común de muchos niños y jóvenes por lo que los terapeutas ocupacionales podrían ayudar a mejorar el desempeño de estas habilidades para mejorar en la práctica deportiva.<br />Material y Métodos: Las 3 participantes de este trabajo han sido seleccionadas previamente de entre todos los miembros del equipo del que formaban parte. Para evaluar el desempeño motor de las 3 niñas, se ha utilizado el Bruininks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency-2 (BOT-2) y las participantes seleccionaron 3 objetivos a través de la Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM). Se han realizado 12 sesiones centradas tanto en sus objetivos como en la mejora de aquellas habilidades deficitarias. Además, se han seguido trabajando durante los entrenamientos.<br />Resultados: Después de realizar las sesiones se detectaron las áreas donde las participantes presentaban mayores dificultades y que se han visto reflejadas en la práctica deportiva del Balonmano. En general las tres han mejorado en el desempeño de las habilidades motoras y de sus objetivos y las familias han expresado su satisfacción tras la intervención con las niñas.<br />Conclusión: Los TO pueden desempeñar un papel fundamental para mejorar la participación en actividades deportivas utilizando un enfoque centrado en el cliente y realizado en el contexto.<br /><br />
