Dans un contexte où une région est éloignée tant physiquement que culturellement, le travail journalistique est un réel défi. Le territoire du Nunavik, couvrant près du tiers de la province du Québec et peuplé à plus de 90 % d’Inuits, est victime de son isolement et d’une grande méconnaissance. Les représentations de ce peuple dans les médias sont rarement édifiantes. Surpeuplement, pauvreté, criminalité, suicides ; c’est à travers des enjeux sociaux critiques que le Sud découvre le Nord. Dans ce travail de recherche, je me penche sur les cadres médiatiques qui se sont imposés dans les articles traitant du Nunavik de la dernière décennie. Comment ont-ils évolué ? Quel type de couverture, en termes de fréquence et de thématiques, peut-on relever ? L’analyse d’articles parus dans les grands médias québécois apportera des réponses à ces questions.
