Abstract
Opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli selvittää nuorten syitä ottaa tai kieltäytyä ottamasta A(H1N1)-rokotetta sekä tuoda esille rokotuspäätökseen vaikuttavia tekijöitä. Tarkoituksena oli myös kuvata nuorten ajatuksia, joita A(H1N1)-rokote ja rokottaminen heissä herättävät sekä tuoda esille mahdollisia sukupuolten välisiä eroja. Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli palvella kouluterveydenhuollon ammattihenkilöstöä ja muita nuorten kanssa työskenteleviä tahoja antamalla heille nuorten ajatuk-sista tietoa, jota he voivat hyödyntää työssään. \n \nTutkimusaineisto kerättiin käyttämällä eläytymismenetelmää. Tutkittaville annettiin kehyskertomus, johon eläytyen he kirjoittivat lyhyen tarinan. Kohdejoukkona olivat abiturientit, ja aineisto kerättiin Jyväskylän seudulla olevasta lukiosta. Tutkimusaineistona oli 40 ainetta, joista 21 on kirjoitettu kehyskertomuksen 1 ja 19 kehyskertomuksen 2 pohjalta. \n \nNuorten syyt ottaa tai kieltäytyä ottamasta rokotetta jakautuivat neljään ryhmään: ulkopuoliset, rokotteeseen liittyvät, A(H1N1)-virukseen liittyvät sekä muut syyt ja tekijät. Ulkopuolisista tekijöistä korostuivat media ja lähipiiri. Massaan kuuluminen koettiin tärkeäksi. Terveydenhuollon ammatti-laisten vaikutus tehtyyn rokotuspäätökseen mainittiin vain harvoin. Rokotteen hyviä ja huonoja puolia pohdittiin kattavasti. Rokotteen nopea tuonti markkinoille ja sivuvaikutukset herättivät epäilyjä rokotteen turvallisuudesta. A(H1N1)-virus jakoi mielipiteitä: toisaalta siltä haluttiin suojautua, mutta toisaalta sitä ei pidetty vaarallisena nuorelle ihmiselle. Muina syinä mainittiin toisinajattelu, erilaiset pelot, kiinnostuksen puute sekä halu poiketa massasta. \n \nAineistosta näkyi, että A(H1N1)-pandemia on herättänyt nuorissa paljon ajatuksia. Nuoret ovat tietoisia maailman asioista ja kriittisiä saamaansa tietoa kohtaan. Jatkokehittämishaasteina voidaan pitää terveysviestinnän tehokkuuden kehittämistä ja suuntaamista nuorille, jotta päätöksenteko perustuisi luotettavaan ja oikeelliseen tietoon.
