Ce mémoire fait état d’une recherche partenariale avec le CUAL (comité UQAM Amérique Latine), laquelle vise deux objectifs : (a) dresser le bilan sur la situation de l’inclusion et de l’exclusion des communautés étudiantes latino-américaines à Montréal et plus précisément à l’UQAM afin de comprendre comment les représentations sociales participent à cette inclusion/exclusion; (b) amener une réflexion sur ce sujet auprès des membres du CUAL et de la communauté étudiante qu’il·elle·s desservent; ceci dans le but de leur proposer des actions visant à déconstruire les représentations des communautés étudiantes latino-américaines et du CUAL, afin de favoriser leur inclusion au sein de la communauté uqamienne. Pour y arriver, un total de quatre focus groups ont été réalisé, trois avec les membres du CUAL et un avec des membres de la communauté étudiante qu’il·elle·s desservent. A cela s’ajoute l’utilisation d’un journal de bord qui m’a accompagné tout au long de cette recherche partenariale. L’analyse thématique des données a mis en avant les représentations autour des différences, les représentations autour des capacités ainsi que les représentations typées des communautés latino-américaines. L’analyse a également fait émerger cinq thématiques concernant l’inclusion et l’exclusion: l’assimilation, la langue et l’accent, la reconnaissance des expertises et compétences, la culture individualiste/ culture collectiviste et enfin, le manque de ressources et de volonté de l’UQAM pour inclure les communautés étudiantes latino-américaines. _____________________________________________________________________________ MOTS-CLÉS DE L’AUTEUR : communication interculturelle, recherche partenariale, représentations sociales, inclusion/exlcusion, communautés étudiantes latino-américaines, CUAL
