Cette communication entend explorer les rapprochements possibles entre deux concepts appartenant a priori à des contextes d’émergence ainsi qu’à des perspectives théoriques et méthodologiques distinctes. Il s’agit des concepts de rapport aux savoirs et de croyances épistémologiques. Le premier s’est développé d’abord en France puis dans le monde francophone dans le but de mieux comprendre les raisons pour lesquelles certains élèves réussissent moins bien que d’autres à l’école (Caillot, 2014; Charlot, 2017), selon des approches variées (sociologique, clinique, didactique). Le second a vu le jour aux États-Unis et s’est déployé par la suite à l’échelle internationale afin de cerner la manière dont des étudiants et des enseignants conçoivent la connaissance et la manière dont celle-ci est acquise (Crahay et Fagnant, 2007; Hofer et Pintrich, 1997). De prime abord, on pourrait considérer que ces deux construits théoriques ne présentent pas d’éléments de convergence, mais il en est autrement lorsque l’on tient compte des données de terrain. Ainsi, bien que le point de départ de ces concepts diverge, des ouvertures peuvent se créer si l’on s’attarde aux résultats qu’ont permis d’obtenir deux recherches en milieu universitaire, l’une auprès de futurs enseignants au Québec et l’autre auprès de futurs psychologues en Belgique.
