Abstract
"Este estudio estuvo dirigido a determinar la eficacia y la eficiencia delos criterios de selección aplicados por el "Proyecto Admisión por MéritoAcadémico" administrado por la Universidad del Zulia a los estudiantesque egresan del nivel de educación media diversificada y profesional. Lainvestigación se apoya en el enfoque epistemológico empírico inductivo. Lavariable criterios para la selección de estudiantes se estudia a partir de losindicadores criterios académicos para el ingreso, municipio de procedencia,criterios académicos de permanencia, criterios administrativos y asignaciónde cupos. La investigación de carácter descriptivo y de campo sedesarrolló a partir de la construcción de dos cuestionarios los cualesfueron aplicados, uno, a los estudiantes adscritos al proyecto (469) y, elotro, a los decanos (13) y secretarios docentes (13) de las distintas facultades.Los resultados informan que la universidad está cumpliendo con laasignación de cupos al 10% de los mejores promedios de las institucionespúblicas y privadas, aunque estos no están ingresando en la primeratanda; en la carrera de su preferencia o en la que la Prueba LUZ le asignacomo primera opción; quienes tienen mayores oportunidades son los queviven en el Municipio Maracaibo y cumplen con los distintos requisitosacadémicos y administrativos establecidos por la institución."
