Abstract
Ajatus konttien käyttämisestä kuljettamisen ja säilyttämisen sijaan rakennusten runkorakenteina on yleistynyt kovaa vauhtia. Ilmiönä se on kuitenkin melko uusi ja Suomessa ei ole montaa asuinkohdetta toteutettu konteista. Ulkomailla sen sijaan konteista on rakennettu kerros- ja pientaloja, näyttelytiloja, kauppoja, hotelleja, kioskeja, sekä muita julkisia ja yksityisiä rakennuksia. \n \nIlman tarkempaa tutkimusta voidaan huomata, että konttitalojen väitetään olevan ekologisia rakentaa, koska konttien uudelleenkäyttö on hyvin tärkeässä roolissa. Kuitenkin konttien kuljetuksesta ja hankalasta työstettävyydestä johtuvat ongelmat eivät tee konttirakentamisesta paljon ekologisempaa, kuin paikalla rakennettaessa. Lisäetuna on kuitenkin vähäinen työmaa-aika, konttien luoma modulaarisuus, sekä kierrätettävyys, jotka tarjoavat kestävän kehityksen mukaisia ratkaisuja. \n \nVaikka kontit altistuvat normaaliajan käytössä hyvin äärimmäisille sääolosuhteille ja ne ovat rakenteellisesti hyvin kestäviä, ne on suunniteltu pääasiassa vaakatasoiseen päällekkäislastaukseen. Näin ollen konteista rakennettaessa muut ratkaisut ovat kyllä mahdollisia, mutta raskaiden tukirakenteiden takia eivät ole ekologisia toteuttaa. Sen seurauksena ekologisen konttiarkkitehtuurin kokonaismassa voi näyttää samanlaiselta. \n \nKonttiasunnon rakentaminen Suomessa rakennusmääräysten mukaisesti on mahdollista, mutta se rajoittaa ja ohjaa paljon suunnittelua. Lisäksi Suomen ilmastosta johtuen lämmöneristysratkaisuille pitää antaa enemmän huomiota.
