En este documento de Trabajo de Fin de Grado se va a realizar a un análisis exhaustivo de cómo ha ido evolucionando la contabilidad hasta la fecha, y sobretodo y más importante, la repercusión actual de la auditoría en el sistema económico y social. Este tema ha sido objeto de estudio por numerosos autores, dando especial importancia al desarrollo de la contabilidad en la sociedad de las distintas épocas. Podemos destacar que en este trabajo el análisis será llevado a cabo con datos y sucesos históricos relevantes que nos permitirán crear una línea cronológica que nos ayudará a entender qué aspectos se han ido perfeccionando en los distintos siglos para que nuestro sistema contable se haya desarrollado hasta el día de hoy. El principal objetivo de nuestra investigación será poder mostrar a los lectores de este documento la importancia real de la contabilidad y la auditoría hasta el día de hoy, ya que inconscientemente mucha gente tiende a decir que la contabilidad en su más simple expresión “sólo son números’’. Partiremos para demostrar y exponer todo esto, desde un punto histórico entorno a los Siglos XIV y XV, en lo referido a la contabilidad y su expansión, y por el otro lado, en el ámbito de la auditoría haremos mención a cómo ha ido evolucionando a lo largo del tiempo, pero de forma más técnica y empírica.
