Abstract
Tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin varhaiskasvatuksen opettajien ja erityisopettajien käsityksiä inkluusiosta sekä sen toteutumisesta. Tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli selvittää miten varhaiskasvatuksen opettajat ja erityisopettajat määrittelevät inkluusion ja millaisia käsityksiä heillä on keinoista sen toteuttamiseen sekä millaiset keinot heidän mukaansa edistävät ja haastavat inkluusion toteuttamista. Tutkimukseen osallistui yhteensä seitsemän opettajaa, joista jokainen työskenteli varhaiskasvatuksen opettajana tai erityisopettajana tutkimuksen aikana. Tutkimus toteutettiin laadullisena tutkimuksena ja tutkimuksen lähestymistapana käytettiin fenomenografiaa. Tutkimuksen aineisto kerättiin haastattelemalla ja analyysimenetelmänä käytimme aineistolähtöistä sisällönanalyysiä. Tulokset osoittivat, että inkluusio määriteltiin sosiaalisena osallisuutena, osallisuutena sekä yhdenvertaisuutena. Inkluusion toteutumiseen käytettävistä keinoista nousi esille pedagogisen tuen keinoja sekä rakenteellisen tuen keinoja. Inkluusion toteutusta edistävinä tekijöinä pidettiin asenteita, koulutusta & kehittämistä, tukitoimia, yhteistyötä ja resursseja. Haastavina tekijöinä pidettiin koulutuksen & tietoisuuden puutetta, eriäviä käsityksiä, resursseja sekä kielteisiä kokemuksia.
