Inngangur: Öxlin er einn óstöðugasti liður líkamans og er því algengt að fólk lendi í vandamálum tengdum óstöðugleika í öxl. The Western Ontario Shoulder Instability Index (WOSI) er þekktur fyrir að vera áreiðanlegur, réttmætur og næmur á breytingar. Íslensk þýðing á listanum myndi auðvelda sjúkraþjálfurum og öðrum meðferðaraðilum á íslandi að greina, meta og meðhöndla óstöðugleika í öxl hjá íslenskumælandi einstaklingum, auk þess að gagnast í innlendum og fjölþjóðlegum rannsóknum. \nMarkmið: Markmið þessarar rannsóknar var að meta áreiðanleika íslenskrar útgáfu WOSI spurningalistans, sem metur áhrif óstöðugrar axlar á líf einstaklinga. Rannsóknarspurning er því hver er innri áreiðanleiki og áreiðanleiki endurtekinna mælinga íslenskrar þýðingar á WOSI og hver er minnsti mælanlegi munur listans? \nAðferð: Þýðing listans var framkvæmd samkvæmt stöðluðum leiðbeiningum um þvermenningalegt aðlögunarferli á sjálfsmatsspurningalistum. Þátttakendur (n=37) fengu senda íslensku þýðinguna af WOSI og the short form (36) health survey (SF-36) til svörunar. Við mat á innri áreiðanleika var notast við Cronbach‘s alfa og áreiðanleiki endurtekinna mælinga var metinn með ICC3 áreiðanleikastuðli. Mælivillan (SEM) var reiknuð og notuð til að meta minnsta mælanlega mun (SDC). \nNiðurstöður: Innri áreiðanleikinn fyrir heildarskorið á WOSI var gott, Cronbach’s alfa var 0,91. Cronbach’s alfa fyrir undirflokkana var frá 0,68–0,86. Áreiðanleikastuðullinn (ICC3) fyrir áreiðanleika endurtekinna mælinga var mjög góður 0,95 og áreiðanleikastuðullinn fyrri undirflokkana var 0,80–0,93. SDC fyrir heildarskor listans var 13,0 stig og fyrir undirflokkana spannaði SDC 14,4–29,9 stig. \nÁlyktun: Niðurstöður rannsóknarinnar benda til þess að íslensk útgáfa WOSI spurningalistans sé áreiðanleg við mat á óstöðugleika í öxl. Listinn kemur til með að veita heilbrigðisstarfsfólki á Íslandi verkfæri til að meta á hlutlægan hátt einkenni og árangur í meðferð íslenskumælandi einstaklinga með óstöðugleika í öxl. Einnig mun spurningalistinn nýtast í rannsóknir, bæði íslenskar og fjölþjóðlegar.
