Abstract

Le développement des nanotechnologies, plus précisément le développement des NBIC (les nanotechnologies [N], les biotechnologies [B], les technologies de l'information [I] et les sciences cognitives [C]), est un sujet qui est en effervescence depuis déjà un bon moment. Mais, il est aussi reconnu que ces nanotechnologies sont très peu connues à ce jour. Alors, comment peut-on définir les limites d'une technologie qui a à peine vu le jour? \n \nSuivant cette idée, ce mémoire qui s'inscrit dans le cadre d'un projet de recherche en cours à l'UQAC traite des limites scientifiques et éthiques qui apparaissent dans la littérature. Ses objectifs sont de ; 1) clarifier l'univers des nanotechnologies pour trouver les limites scientifiques possibles et probables, 2) analyser les conséquences (impacts et risques) de la convergence des NBIC pour faire ressortir les limites éthiques qui pourraient mettre un frein à ce développement et 3) proposer une synthèse de ces deux questions pour dégager des relations possibles entre ces différents types de limites d'où pourraient résulter un dialogue interdisciplinaire. \n \nL'approche analytique préconisée est essentiellement qualitative. Les données utilisées ont été extraites au moyen d'une grille d'analyse d'impacts et d'acceptabilité développée par le Groupe de Recherche Interdisciplinaire InterNE3LS. \n \nEn plus de dresser le profil des limites scientifiques et éthiques possibles, cette recherche propose une réflexion sur les relations possibles entre ces deux types de limites afin d'éclairer un chemin où le dialogue interdisciplinaire pourrait devenir une voie pour encadrer le développement des NBIC et définir les limites souhaitables.
