Abstract
“Parole per una città” ripercorre le principali trasformazioni architettoniche e urbane avvenute negli ultimi tre decenni a Lisbona, muovendo dalla ricostruzione dello Chiado successiva all’incendio del 1988 e dalla lungimirante gestione dell’Expo98. Vere occasioni d’innesco del processo di “resurrezione” della capitale portoghese, i due interventi sono stati un “modello” di rigenerazione dello spazio pubblico oggetto di continua interpretazione, nelle parti più antiche e storicamente consolidate del centro della città come in quelle della fascia del lungo Tago, modellate in maniera anomala quanto incompleta nel secolo scorso da numerose infrastrutture industriali. Nella visione unitaria che governa processi condotti in ambiti così differenti è possibile ravvisare una maniera affatto portoghese di affrontare la scala urbana attraverso il progetto di architettura, il quale pur se puntualmente concentrato in un’area definita è pensato nella sua relazione con il tutto – la città – e con il tempo del suo farsi, in un processo di mutamento in cui la vera sfida è la preservazione dello spirito della città.
