Abstract
Narrative in 2023 a Requiem : An Immersive VR Odyssey The film opens in the quiet of an apartment, where a photograph of a young couple captures both personal memory and universal connection. That stillness is broken by distant echoes of chaos. As windows shatter, the viewer is pulled into a television screen—a portal from domestic intimacy to cosmic silence. In orbit, astronauts drift around a mysterious object. Earth transitions from night to day. Then, The Virgin Annunciate by Antonello da Messina appears—her serene expression gazing over space itself. The next scene returns her face to Earth, now part of a mural in a ruined city. This haunting juxtaposition echoes Alexis de Tocqueville’s warning: “When the past no longer illuminates the future, the spirit walks in darkness.” More than a reflection on war, 2023 a Requiem explores the resilience of the human spirit and our capacity for transcendence. It is a meditation on loss, memory, and the hope that survives them both.
