Abstract
Este documento analizala relación de largo plazo entre el tipo de cambio real bilateral y las exportaciones de carne bovina uruguayas en volumen para cuatro de los mercados más importantes de Uruguay (Unión Europea, Estados Unidos, Brasil y China) en el período 2005-2019 mediante Modelos Vectoriales de Corrección al Equilibrio(VECM). Los resultados son analizados en el marco de las condiciones de acceso comercial de Uruguay y de sus competidores en esos países. Los resultados indican que en aquellos mercados donde hay menoresrestricciones al comercio(como en el caso de Brasil y China) se observa la existencia de una relación entre el TCR bilateral, el PIB de la economía socia comercial y las exportaciones de Carne, coherente con lo esperado por la teoría económica. Por su parte, en los mercados donde existen mayores barreras al comercio no se encuentra evidencia estadísticamente significativa de una relación entre las variables planteadas. Para el subperíodo analizado y con la metodología implementada, este documento brinda nueva evidencia sobre el vínculo entre el tipo de cambio real bilateral y las exportaciones de carne para aquellos mercados donde rigen menos restricciones comerciales y aporta nuevos resultados sobre los mercados más restrictivos.
