La présente étude examine quelques aspects du processus d'adaptation d'étudiants universitaires d'Afrique francophone à Québec. Parti du postulat théorique selon lequel l'estime de soi et le lieu de contrôle sont de bons prédicteurs d'adaptation, nous nous attendions à ce qu'il y ait une relation significative entre ces 3 variables, c'est-à-dire que les étudiants africains ayant une estime de soi élevée seraient du type interne de contrôle et s'adapteraient mieux à leur milieu que leurs homologues qui présentant des caractéristiques contraires. Sur 120 étudiants qui ont accepté volontairement de participa- à notre étude, 53 ont effectivement répondu au questionnaire et ont donc été retenus pour les différentes analyses. Les résultats obtenus montrent de faibles corrélations entre lieu de contrôle interne et estime de soi et entre lieu de contrôle interne et adaptation. Cependant, lorsque les étudiants interrogés ont une estime de soi élevée, leur adaptation n'est pas difficile, il y a une corrélation significative entre l'estime de soi et l'adaptation. De tels résultats tendent à confirmer que l'estime de soi, plus que le lieu de contrôle, est un bon prédicteur de l'adaptation chez les étudiants universitaires d'Afrique francophone. Lesquels disent en général, être bien adaptés à leur nouveau contexte culturel.
