Abstract
Dieser Beitrag zur Debatte "Erfolgreich Sozialwissenschaft betreiben – Ethnographie der Karrierepolitiken einer Berufsgruppe" stellt einen Versuch dar zur Anthropologie des Drittmittelerwerbs in einer nationalen Förderungsgemeinschaft, dem Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. In diesem Versuch folge ich dem paradigmatischen Motto, das sich diese Gemeinschaft selbst gegeben hat und schon auf dem Titelblatt des "Manual for Adjudication Committee Members" (Handbuch für die Mitglieder des Entscheidungsgremiums) ausweist, welches die Regeln für die Bewertung von Anträgen bzw. für die Entscheidung über Anträge enthält, und sehe mir die launischen und politischen Prozesse des Drittmittelerwerbs von nahe an. In meinem anthropologischen Zugang bediene ich mich unterschiedlicher Gesellschaftstheorien, welche ich in der Form von das soziale Zusammenleben strukturierenden Topologien artikuliere. In meiner Repräsentation integriere ich sowohl persönliche als auch abstrahierende Perspektiven auf die sozialen Prozesse, die dem Drittmittelerwerb unterliegen und rekurriere auf die persönlichen Erfahrungen des Erfolgs und Nicht-Erfolgs, die in diesen Prozessen konstruiert werden.
