Research and Application of Drill-String Conveyed Magnetic Ranging Technology in Underground Gas Storage Wells
Bibliographic record
Abstract
In response to the demand for plugging old wells of CO2 gas storage under the carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals, to address the challenges of deploying wireline logging tools to the bottomhole of highly-deviated and complex-structure wells during operations, combined with drill-string conveyed wet connector technology and magnetic ranging technology, a wet connector docking and multi-stage insulation shielding process was designed, dedicated components such as insulated sub, insulated drill pipe and wireline connecting device were designed, and a novel drill-string conveyed magnetic ranging technology was formed and applied in the field. The research and application results show that the active magnetic ranging drill string system achieves sustained excitation after wet connector docking, solving the problem of running in hole with deviation angle above 40° or having anomalies such as sloughing and reduction, thereby extending applicability to full spectrum of well types. The system notably enhances anti-electromagnetic interference capability in drill-string conveyance mode, with good field application effect. However, influenced by current attenuation in mud, drill string and formation, the transmission distance is only 1/3 of wireline logging, requiring to make breakthroughs through high-conductivity mud and optimizing drill string insulation. The research conclusions provide reference for high-precision magnetic ranging technology in plugging old wells with complex wellbores.

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one source (direct Gemma or distilled Codex), not a consensus.
