Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

On 3 February 2016 at 3:54 p.m. local time, a tectonic earthquake measuring 5.8 Mw (6.1 Mlv) occurred at a depth of 31 km, approximately 70 km north-east of La Trinité (Martinique). The epicentre affected the departments of Martinique and Guadeloupe and was felt on several neighbouring islands: Saint Barthélemy, Saint Martin, Dominica, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. The maximum intensity (EMS-98) reached was V (strong shaking) in the municipalities of La Trinité, Grand-Rivière and Le Lamentin in Martinique. The focal mechanism was NE-SW compression, probably linked to an interplate earthquake on the subduction interface between the Caribbean and American plates. In the 24 hours following the event, 17 aftershocks with magnitudes ranging from 2.1 to 2.7 were recorded. The BCSF-Renass macroseismic survey, completed by 555 online forms, collected information on the effects felt. Only 4 out of 76 town halls responded to the municipal forms, with the rest of the data being based on individual testimonies. The Macroseismic Intervention Group (GIM) was not required, as the damage was very limited. Most residents described a faint, distant rumbling, sometimes accompanied by an explosive noise, and distinguished between the arrival of P and S waves. The tremor caused concern, with a few cases of panic (4% of reports), mainly in Martinique. A few emergency interventions were necessary for minor injuries or illness, for example in Lamentin and Sainte-Thérèse.Overall, the effects on property were moderate, and the population's reaction remains consistent with their experience of earthquakes in this region.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
