L’anaplasmose granulocytaire humaine (AGH) est une maladie vectorielle causée par la bactérie Anaplasma phagocytophilum (Ap) et transmise par la tique Ixodes scapularis. Le variant zoonotique, dit « human active » (Ap-ha), est pathogène pour l’humain, le cheval et le chien. L’AGH est en émergence au Canada et au Québec, où un agrégat inhabituel de cas a été détecté en 2021 dans la région de l’Estrie, au sud du Québec. L’objectif de ce mémoire est de mieux comprendre quelles espèces de micromammifères sauvages peuvent être considérées comme des hôtes réservoirs compétents du variant Ap-ha, ce qui est pour le moment inconnu dans le contexte canadien. Au cours des étés 2022 et 2023, 547 micromammifères ont été capturés sur huit sites boisés péri-domestiques de la région de Bromont afin d’évaluer le niveau d’infestation par des tiques immatures, leur statut infectieux pour Ap-ha et leur capacité à infecter des larves. Nos résultats nous permettent d’affirmer que le tamia rayé (Tamias striatus) et la souris du genre Peromyscus (Peromyscus spp.) constituent des réservoirs compétents d’Ap-ha dans le sud du Québec. Il s’agit de la première étude canadienne à s’intéresser aux hôtes réservoirs de l’AGH et à détecter ce pathogène chez des espèces autres que la souris à pattes blanches au Canada. Ce projet s’inscrit dans une approche Une Seule Santé puisqu’il intègre des notions d’écologie et d’épidémiologie afin de mieux comprendre l’émergence de l’AGH et d’orienter le développement d’interventions de gestion du risque en santé humaine et animale.
