Ce mémoire a pour but de répondre à une grande question de recherche : quelles sont les tendances d’intensification d’adjectifs en français québécois ? Pour répondre à cette question, il se penche sur le cas de 40 films francophones québécois produits entre 2000 et 2020. Notre étude recense tous les adjectifs intensifiables, intensifiés et non intensifiés, dans des phrases positives et négatives. À partir de ce corpus, elle propose des analyses probabilistes à l’aide de l’application Goldvarb. Trois grandes analyses sont menées : l’analyse de l’intensification v. la non-intensification (les facteurs qui motivent un locuteur à intensifier un adjectif), l’analyse des facteurs qui influencent le choix de la variante (ce qui motive un locuteur à choisir un intensificateur plus qu’un autre) et l’analyse des tendances d’intensification entre la première et la deuxième décennie du 21e siècle. Les analyses menées dans le cadre de ce mémoire déterminent que trois facteurs influencent significativement l’intensification des adjectifs : les adjectifs d’origine anglaise, les noms d’origine anglaise et la polarité de la phrase. Elles déterminent également que quatre intensificateurs sont fortement attestés en français québécois : bien, très, vraiment et tellement. Ce travail examine les tendances pour chacun de ces intensificateurs et interprète les résultats sous une perspective quantitative et qualitative. Les analyse révèlent que bien et très sont en déclin, que vraiment est un intensificateur novateur davantage attesté dans la deuxième décennie du 21e siècle que dans la première, et que tellement semble posséder toutes les caractéristiques d’un intensificateur novateur (bien que des recherches supplémentaires soient nécessaires). En somme, cette étude enrichit les travaux sur les intensificateurs en français québécois.
