La presente tesina analiza la dimensión ártica de la política exterior de Canadá bajo Justin Trudeau (2015-2025), en el marco del debilitamiento del excepcionalismo ártico. Partiendo de un enfoque teórico que articula el realismo neoclásico con perspectivas constructivistas sobre identidad, se analizan las acciones, políticas y resultados de Ottawa a través de tres ejes entrelazados: cooperación internacional, afirmación de soberanía y proyección identitaria. Metodológicamente, se desarrolla un estudio cualitativo descriptivo-analítico basado en fuentes primarias y secundarias. Los hallazgos revelan que la política exterior ártica canadiense respondió a la interacción entre factores externos –como la competencia geopolítica y el cambio climático– e internos –en especial la identidad nacional y presiones domésticas–. Se muestra que, a pesar de acompañar iniciativas cooperativas en ámbitos ambientales, científicos y diplomáticos, la administración Trudeau transitó progresivamente hacia una mayor securitización de su política. De esa manera, en lugar de forjar un liderazgo proactivo, Canadá adoptó un enfoque reactivo, adaptando su política a los condicionantes internacionales y domésticos, lo que lo llevó a reforzar inversiones en defensa y abrir espacio a la OTAN en la región. En consecuencia, Ottawa fue parte del debilitamiento del excepcionalismo ártico, reflejado en la paralización del Consejo Ártico y en el traslado del diálogo hacia foros militares.
