Abstract
During Summer 2018, French theater world, from France to Quebec, happened to be shaken by complex and vague notions, such as the “cultural appropriation” one. Project Kanata, which was supposed to be the historical meeting between the director Robert Lepage and the theater company of Theatre du Soleil (created by Ariane Mnouchkine), became soon enough the beginning of a difficult controversy, raised by Indigenous artists and allies. They were questioning the right to tell and embody Indigenous stories and past traumas by an only non-Indigenous artistic team. The show Kanata - Episode Un - La Controverse, as it happens, from his storyline to all the communications that were made around it, stands now in the theater studies as a perfect example of opposition between two worlds, from esthetical, political, institutional and methodological point of views. The object of this paper is to render the best way possible of all the stakes, causes and consequences at work in this event, and to make space for future projects, in real and honest collaboration. Hopefully, without appropriation or aestheticization of the cultures of the perceived as “others”.

Full frame machine prediction
Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one source (direct Gemma or distilled Codex), not a consensus.
