Ce mémoire a pour objet d’étude la reconversion du patrimoine immobilier scolaire afin d’en déterminer les nouvelles fonctions d’anciennes écoles primaires et les enjeux de valorisation de ces lieux porteurs de patrimoines protéiformes (immobilier, mobilier, matériel, immatériel). L’objectif en est de dresser une étendue la plus large possible des requalifications de ce type de bâtiments, dont le nombre de fermetures est en constante augmentation pour des raisons démographiques, et d’en analyser la pertinence d’un point de vue patrimonial, mise en regard avec des concepts précis. La première partie se concentre sur la France, avec une identification des éléments susceptibles de patrimonialisation, une histoire de l9architecture scolaire, la valorisation de l’univers scolaire et une présentation exhaustive des types de reconversions. La deuxième partie présente des études de cas dans trois pays, le Japon, le Canada et les Etats-Unis, offrant une comparaison avec la France. Enfin, la troisième partie est une proposition de projet de valorisation autour de la thématique des requalifications d’écoles après 1970 par le biais d’une exposition virtuelle en partenariat avec le Munaé.
