Il contributo analizza il concetto di paesaggio sostenibile, evidenziando come la sostenibilità derivi dall’equilibrio dinamico tra componenti ambientali, sociali ed economiche. Dopo aver introdotto i principi di resilienza, omeostasi ed entropia, il testo mostra come il modello estrattivo contemporaneo abbia generato squilibri profondi, accentuati dall’urbanizzazione, dall’overtourism e dall’abbandono delle aree interne. Viene sottolineato il ruolo cruciale delle comunità locali e indigene nella tutela della biodiversità, riconosciuto da accordi internazionali come quello di Kunming-Montreal. Il contributo propone una visione innovativa che supera la separazione tra natura e cultura, integrando approcci multispecie, prospettive empatiche e nuovi paradigmi come l’ipotesi Gaia e il Simbiocene. Attraverso esempi progettuali – Milano Animal City, il progetto ATTRACT della Regione Lazio e modelli agricoli tradizionali – si evidenzia la necessità di una trasformazione culturale e territoriale orientata alla convivenza, alla partecipazione e alla sostenibilità, capace di guidare l’evoluzione dei paesaggi contemporanei.
