Abstract
The article is devoted to the stay of G.V. Baev in emigration – in Berlin and his activities in the publishing house of E.A. Gutnov. Georgy (Gappo, Georg) Vasilyevich Baev (1869-1939) was a public figure, a brilliant leader and a talented publicist – he left a bright mark on the administrative, socio-political life of the North Caucasus at the beginning of the XXth century. A significant part of Baev's manuscript heritage has not yet been published, so its thorough study and introduction into scientific circulation is a very urgent scientific task. The solution of historical problems is based on the principles of historicism and objectivity. The comparative historical method was used, which allows us to draw conclusions about the specificity or typicality of individual personality traits; biographical method; multidisciplinary methodology, which explains a number of features of personal and social behavior of a historical figure. Having headed the editorial board of the trade and industrial department of the magazine "Spolohi" G.V. Baev assists his compatriot, publisher Elbyzdyko Gutnov, in publishing a magazine, as well as in publishing books by Ossetian authors in their native and Russian languages. All these publications were sent to their homeland in Ossetia, they became a noticeable phenomenon in cultural life, and served the cause of educating the people. During this period, Georgy Vasilyevich prepared and published articles devoted to issues of cooperation, cultural, economic and political development of Russia and the North Caucasus. Even by the titles of his articles, one can imagine the range of interests of the active and energetic Georgy Vasilyevich: "The Revival of Russia (external and internal forces)"; "The Caucasus (towards the restoration of Russia)"; "Hopes for cooperation (from the notebook of an old cooperator)".
