Abstract

Objetivo: Evaluar los factores de riesgo asociados al síndrome de fragilidad en adultos mayores de la parroquia El Rosario, durante el año 2025. Material y métodos: Se desarrolló un estudio observacional, analítico y transversal con un enfoque cuantitativo. La población estuvo compuesta por 174 adultos mayores de 65 años. Mediante el muestreo probabilístico se seleccionó una muestra de 120 participantes. La recolección de datos se realizó en los domicilios con la aplicación de la escala de fragilidad de Edmonton y un cuestionario sobre características sociodemográficas, clínicas y de estilo de vida. Se calcularon frecuencias, porcentajes y medidas de tendencia central. Para el análisis bivariado, se aplicó la prueba de Chi-cuadrado. Resultados: La mayoría de los participantes fueron mujeres (57,5 %). El 57,5 % de los adultos mayores se clasificó como vulnerable, el 27,5 % como no frágil y el 15 % como frágil. Se observó una relación estadística entre la independencia funcional y la movilidad (p = 0,019), entre apoyo social y ánimo (p = 0,006), y entre independencia funcional y continencia (p = 0,025). No se encontraron asociaciones relevantes entre la fragilidad y el sexo, el estado de salud general o la cognición. Conclusión: Los resultados muestran que la vulnerabilidad constituye la condición predominante en la población adulta mayor estudiada y que se relaciona con factores sociales, funcionales y clínicos (valor p < 0,05).
