Abstract
Kız Enstitüleri, Türkiye’de kadın eğitiminin ve kadın kimliğinin şekillenmesinde aracı bir rol üstlenmiş eğitim kurumlarındandır. 1928’de İsmet Paşa Kız Enstitüsü’nün açılmasıyla başlayan süreç zaman içerisinde çok sayıda enstitünün kurulmasıyla devam etmiştir. Bunlardan biri de Güneydoğu Anadolu Bölgesi’nde ilk olma özelliğine sahip bulunan Gaziantep Kız Enstitüsü’dür. Bu enstitü, faaliyette bulunduğu süre boyunca pek çok öğrenci yetiştirmiştir. F. Bilge (Özgül) Kazaz da şahsiyeti ve etkinlikleriyle o öğrenciler arasında en görünür simalardan biridir. F. Bilge Kazaz’ın Gaziantep Kız Enstitüsü’nde almış olduğu eğitim hayatına çeşitli açılardan yön vermiş, adeta kilit rol oynamıştır. Kazaz, burada aldığı eğitimin bir getirisi olarak koleksiyonerlik ve yazarlık gibi kazanımlarını Gaziantep ile bütünleştirmiştir. Kendi ifadeleriyle “Gaziantep halkına geçmişini armağan etmek” amacıyla yaptığı çalışmalarda ve düzenlediği sergilerde Gaziantep’in sosyal ve kültürel yapısını merkeze almıştır. Ayrıca bu araştırmada ilk defa ortaya koyulan Gaziantep Kız Enstitüsü yıllarına ait belgeler kurum tarihi açısından birincil kaynak olma niteliğini taşımaktadır. Bütün bu veriler birleştiğinde Kazaz hem mezun olduğu okulun hem de Gaziantep’in kültürüne ve tarihine katkılarıyla kent için önemli bir figür haline gelmiştir.
