Abstract
El objetivo de este estudio es comprender las dificultades a las que se enfrentan los estudiantes internacionales al llegar a una región remota de la provincia de Québec. Con un enfoque cualitativo y una muestra de 17 participantes, se identificaron diversos retos que constituyen fuentes significativas de estrés y pueden afectar la salud y el bienestar general de los estudiantes. Entre ellos destacan la satisfacción de necesidades básicas, la adaptación al clima invernal, las limitaciones en el transporte, las dificultades económicas y la creación de redes sociales en un entorno desconocido. El aislamiento social aparece como un factor central, intensificado por la ausencia de una red de apoyo preexistente, lo que expone a los estudiantes a un mayor riesgo de precariedad social y vulnerabilidad. Asimismo, los hallazgos evidencian que estos jóvenes permanecen en gran medida invisibilizados ante las autoridades gubernamentales y sin acceso a los recursos sociales disponibles para residentes permanentes o ciudadanos canadienses. Esta investigación, de carácter exploratorio, subraya la especificidad de las experiencias de los estudiantes internacionales en región remota, las cuales difieren en varios aspectos de las vividas por quienes cursan estudios en grandes centros urbanos.
