Abstract
O estudo buscou comparar o desenvolvimento motor de bebês prematuros e de baixo peso, de 0 a 12 meses, com e sem hemorragia intracraniana graus I e II, cadastrados no Ambulatório de Bebês de Risco da Universidade de Caxias do Sul, no município de Caxias do Sul/RS. A amostra partiu de um banco de dados com 282 crianças prematuras e de baixo peso. Destas, 37 crianças tinham o diagnóstico clínico de HIC, sendo 22 com HIC grau I e 15 com HIC grau II (Grupo I), as quais foram pareadas com 37 crianças sem HIC (Grupo II). Para avaliação do desempenho motor, foi utilizada a Alberta Infant Motor Scale (AIMS) e dois questionários qualitativos para identificação dos fatores de risco. Os dados coletados foram analisados através de estatística descritiva e para as comparações entre os grupos foi utilizado o teste U Mann- Whitney. O nível de significância adotado foi igual ou menor que p?0,05. Quanto ao desempenho motor, a pesquisa demonstrou que não houve diferenças significativas entre os grupos avaliados com e sem HIC. Embora os resultados do estudo não tenham mostrado diferenças expressivas entre os grupos, os achados são essenciais para programas de avaliação e intervenção precoce em prematuros e de baixo peso com e sem HIC.
