Resumo: Com o objetivo de determinar os valores hematológicos de referência em macacos-prego (Cebus cay e Cebus nigritus) e bugios pretos (Alouatta caraya) aparentemente sadios, de vida livre, e investigar as possíveis variações relacionadas ao sexo e à idade, foram colhidas amostras de sangue de 8 macacos-prego e 36 bugios pretos, da região do Alto Rio Paraná, sul do Brasil Os animais foram capturados em armadilhas manuais ou automáticas e contidos quimicamente com cloridrato de tiletamina e cloridrato de zolazepam, em partes iguais, na dose média de 3,6mg/kg para macacos-prego e 5,5mg/kg para bugios pretos, por via intramuscular Determinaram-se as variáveis hematológicas empregando-se os métodos tradicionais Os animais do gênero Cebus estudados foram subdivididos de acordo com o sexo e a idade: 26 fêmeas (13 adultas e 13 jovens) e 54 machos (27 adultos e 27 jovens) Efetuou-se a análise de variâncias bifatorial para testar o efeito da idade e do sexo, e a interação entre os dois fatores Para os primatas da espécie Alouatta caraya, os dados foram avaliados pelo teste t, comparando os macacos agrupados ora por sexo (16 fêmeas e 2 machos) ora por idade (23 adultos e 13 jovens) Nos macacos-prego, o volume globular foi maior nos machos adultos e o número de leucócitos e de linfócitos mais elevado nos jovens Não houve diferença significativa para as demais variáveis estudadas O número de eosinófilos foi superior ao relatado em literatura para animais do mesmo gênero Nos bugios pretos, houve diferença no número de eritrócitos, superior nas fêmeas, no volume globular médio e no número de eosinófilos, superiores nos machos Entre as idades, para esta espécie, o volume globular e a proteína total plasmática foram significativamente superiores nos animais adultos
