Ce mémoire explore la valorisation du verre recyclé par une approche en design axée sur la matérialité. La recherche s’inscrit dans un contexte de surplus de matière et de difficultés liées à la gestion du verre au Québec. Elle interroge les limites d’une logique quantitative, centrée sur l’efficacité technique et économique, au profit d’une approche qualitative qui reconnaît la valeur esthétique et matérielle des résidus. L’étude confronte l’écoconception, issue d’une culture de l’ingénieur, à l’écodesign qui met en avant l’agentivité et la subjectivité de la matière. La méthodologie repose sur la recherche création et se déploie en trois volets : perception, collaboration et exploration. Ce cadre a permis d’expérimenter directement avec la matière secondaire issue du verre post-consommation, afin de documenter ses propriétés, ses contraintes et ses potentialités, tout en proposant de nouvelles pistes esthétiques et fonctionnelles. Les résultats démontrent que le verre recyclé peut être requalifié en matière seconde, ouvrant ainsi des perspectives de design qui dépassent la simple logique de recyclage industriel.
