Abstract
Introducción: las infecciones del tracto urinario (ITU) en mujeres son frecuentes, pueden presentarse a cualquier edad . Si son recurrentes produce impacto negativo en la calidad de vida y afecta a mujeres jóvenes o adultas mayores con factores de riesgo. Adoptar medidas profilácticas no antibióticas o uso de antibióticos a bajas dosis en forma continuada son las opciones de tratamiento. Objetivos: analizar la causas de infecciones del tracto urinario recurrente en mujeres y las medidas de prevención sin antibiotico o el uso de antibiótico para evitar la recurrencia Métodos: revisión narrativa con búsqueda bibliográfica en PubMed, Scopus, SciELO y Cocharane ,Google Scholar de artículos publicados entre 2008 y 2024. Resultados: se documenta evidencia de los principales tipos de infeccion urinaria en mujeres, no complicadas y complicadas y las medidas no farmacologica y farmacologicas adecuadas para prevención. Conclusiones: el manejo ITU-R requiere un enfoque individualizado, con uroanálisis previo y participación activa de la paciente en la elección terapéutica. Dada la resistencia bacteriana, se deben priorizar medidas generales y no antibióticas antes de la profilaxis
