Abstract
Tukkihävikki on merkittävä aihe metsäteollisuudessa, sillä se liittyy suoraan puun tehokkaaseen hyödyntämiseen. Tukin saanto on tärkeää jokaiselle metsäalan yritykselle, joka sitä jollain tavalla jatkojalostaa tai välittää eteenpäin. Hävikin vähentäminen on tärkeää, niin taloudellisesti kuin ympäristönkin kannalta. Tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli tutkia, tapahtuuko sahan hankinta-alueella tukkihävikkiä. Tutkimus toteutettiin keräämällä sahan metsätietojärjestelmästä hankinta-alueella operoineiden hakkuukoneiden mittausmääriä ja vertaamalla niitä sahan vastaanoton mittausmääriin. Tutkimus oli laadultaan kvantitatiivinen eli määrällinen tutkimus. Tutkimusaineisto koostuu puukauppasopimuksista, joissa oli hakattu kuusi- (Picea abies) ja mäntytukkeja (Pinus sylvestris). Tutkimusaineistoa tutkittiin Wilcoxonin merkittyjen sijalukujen testillä. Testitapa valittiin normaalijakautuneisuus testien perusteella, joista selvisi, että aineisto ei ollut normaalijakautunutta. Testit suoritettiin koko aineistolle sekä valituille rajaajille. Aineistossa tapahtuu kuusi- ja mäntytukeilla tilastollisesti merkittävää eroa, kuutiomäärä- ja kappalemäärätesteissä. Rajaajilla tulokset vaihtelivat tilastollisesti merkittävän, tilastollisesti erittäin merkittävän ja tilastollisesti ei merkittävän välillä. Tilastollinen merkittävyys kertoo, onko havaittu ero systemaattista vai satunnaista ja esittää sen suuntautumisen vastaanotto- ja hakkuukonemittauksien välillä. Aineiston kokonaiskuutiomääräero oli -1,40 % ja kokonaiskappalemääräero -0,37 %.
