Abstract
Fougeret de Monbron à la Bastille, et dans ses archives Fougeret de Monbron a séjourné deux fois dans les prisons de Louis XV et notamment à la Bastille du 12 avril au 25 septembre 1755. Sa présence dans la forteresse a donné naissance à un certain nombre de documents dispersés et partiellement reproduits. On propose une mise au point, de nouvelles transcriptions et la publication des derniers inédits. Les archives de la Bastille fournissent des informations sur la vie du prisonnier et permettent de préciser le profil d’un homme de lettres à la singularité très accusée. L’examen plus particulier de la « bibliothèque de voyage » saisie lors de son arrestation donne de précieuses indications pour compléter la bibliographie de l’écrivain cosmopolite, amateur de littérature étrangère et sans doute traducteur de l’anglais. Les archives permettent aussi de dénouer certaines confusions tissées entre la biographie de Fougeret et celle d’un autre prisonnier de la Bastille, Louis-Joseph de La Rochegérault. Il faut rendre à ce dernier La Voie des persécutés régulièrement donné au premier.
