Abstract

-- ABSTRACT : In the context of a changing society, the issues related to equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in the workplace are linked to social cohesion and organizational performance. However, despite legal advances in combating discrimination in Canada and Quebec, many historically marginalized groups such as women, visible minorities, immigrants, Indigenous peoples, and individuals with disabilities continue to face persistent inequalities in access to employment, career advancement, and representation in decision-making positions. The main objective of this research is to examine the role of organizational culture and diversity climate within Canadian and Quebec workplaces, depending of the profile of the organizations. A quantitative approach was selected. An electronic questionnaire was administered as part of a survey conducted between February 20 and April 14, 2023. The aim was to gather perceptions on diversity climate and organizational culture. In total, 211 people responded, representing a range of various Canadian organizations, varied in terms of size, sector, and legal status. The results obtained indicate that organizational culture and diversity climate vary according to the structural characteristics of organizations and present distinct profiles in terms of equity, diversity, and inclusion. About one-third of the surveyed organizations have a formal policy on equity, diversity, and inclusion, and a slightly lower proportion have adopted a structured action plan. The most dominant values such as collaboration, respect for individual rights, and success orientation differ based on size, status, sector of activity, and level of unionization. Large companies stand out for their strong results orientation, pronounced social responsibility, and high-performance expectations, while small organizations place greater value on analytical spirit. The climate of diversity is perceived as favorable, particularly regarding the attitudes and behaviors of colleagues and superiors, and is particularly positive in the public sector as well as in the forestry, fishing, mining, and oil and gas extraction sectors. This study therefore recommends that EDI be viewed not only as an ethical and social requirement but also as a strategic tool to transform workplaces. It urges organizations to reevaluate their value systems, structures, and internal practices to sustainably anchor the principles of EDI at the heart of their organizational culture. -- Mot(s) clé(s) en anglais : equity, diversity, inclusion, organizational culture, diversity climate, work environments.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
