Les changements d’occupation du sol, et notamment l’urbanisation, sont l’une des principales causes du déclin de la biodiversité, en raison de la perte et la fragmentation des milieux naturels. Des initiatives existent, y compris en ville, pour restaurer des corridors et faciliter les déplacements de la faune sauvage. Des passages à hérissons sont par exemple installés pour connecter les espaces verts privés ou publics et ainsi faciliter les déplacements de cette espèce menacée. À travers une enquête par questionnaire réalisée dans l’agglomération de Caen (France) en 2025, notre étude vise à identifier les facteurs influençant l’acceptabilité sociale de l'installation d’un passage à hérisson dans les jardins privés. Nos résultats montrent que les habitants sont plus enclins à accepter la création d’un passage à hérisson lorsqu’ils ont un niveau de diplôme supérieur au baccalauréat, lorsqu’ils aménagent leur jardin en faveur de la biodiversité et lorsqu’ils attribuent au hérisson une appréciation positive et une utilité pour leur jardin. L’article met également en lumière des obstacles à la création du passage à hérisson, notamment chez des habitants qui considèrent que l’animal passe déjà dans leur jardin ou qui sont réticents à percer leurs murs. Ces résultats éclairent les déterminants à considérer dans les campagnes de sensibilisation en faveur de la biodiversité urbaine et offrent des indications aux décideurs et acteurs locaux sur les potentiels freins et leviers lors de la mise en place concrète de mesures favorables à la biodiversité urbaine.
