Abstract
Roman sanatının en önemli unsuru insandır. Birçok romancı asıl başarısını kurgusal dünyada canlandırdığı “roman kişisi”ne borçludur. Tarihi romanlarda ise bu durum biraz farklılaşır. Çünkü ele alınan kişi, herkesin bildiği tanıdık bir kişidir. Ancak romancı bu gerçek (tarihi) kişiyi de diğerlerinde olduğu gibi kurgu sanatı içinde yeniden canlandırır. Tabiri caizse ona yeniden hayat verir. Tarihi şahsiyetleri roman sahasına çıkarmak diğerlerine göre oldukça zordur. Özellikle ideolojik bakış açısına göre yorumlandığında tarihi şahsiyetler ya çok yüceltilmekte veya olumsuz bir tip olarak kötülenmektedirler. Tarihi Türk romanlarına baktığımızda da bunun her iki örneğiyle de karşılaşırız. Biz bu makalede Türk edebiyatında başlangıcından günümüze kadar (1870-1950) yayımlanmış tarihi romanlardaki tarihi şahsiyetlere genel hatlarıyla göz atacak ve bazı örnek tiplerden hareketle onların romanlardaki kurgulanışlarını yorumlamaya çalışacağız.
