SUMMARY According to the statistics provided by the Hygiene Institute Health Information Center in 2015, the prevalence of scoliosis among children aged 7-14 was 2,4% and 4,7% between 15-17 years old in Lithuania. According to foreign authors, juvenile idiopathic scoliosis is an increasingly common manifestation of the disease, with a general pre valence of 0,47-5,2% in current literature (Konieczny M.R., Senyurt H., Krauspe R. 2013). The object of the work: the effect of physiotherapy on schoolchildren with juvenile idiopathic scoliosis. The aim of the work: to evaluate the effect of physiotherapy on schoolchildren with juvenile idiopathic scoliosis. Tasks of the work: 1. To review spinal anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, types of scoliosis, cause of occurrence and applied physiotherapy; 2. To evaluate the spinal cavity before and after physiotherapy with juvenile idiopathic scoliosis; 3. To evaluate posture before and after physiotherapy with juvenile idiopathic scoliosis; 4. To evaluate the static enduranceof torso muscles before and after physiotherapy with juvenile idiopathic scoliosis. Characteristics of the research. The study was conducted in February-May 2018at Panevėžys Center of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, in order to assess the effect of physiotherapy in schoolchildren with juvenile idiopathic scoliosis. 10 schoolchildren withjuvenile idiopathic scoliosis were investigated. All subjects were evaluated 2 times: first day and after ten days. The following test methods were used in the study: Shober sample - to determine spinal cord size; W.W. Hoeger scale - to assess posture; McGill test - to assess the static endurance of the torso muscles. The results of the study showed that physiotherapy had a positive effect on all the indicators of the study: spinal cord, posture and torso muscles static endurance.
