Abstract
Relevance of the topic. According to Eurostat 2011 data in Europe the most frequently reported longstanding health problem was a problem with the back and neck about 8,4% (in Lithuania – 7,1%). European Working Condition (1996) found that 30% of all workers in Europe suffer back pain, and it is the most common of all the registered work-related injury. WHO in 2003 publish that 80% of the population will experience a back problem at same time in their lives. Physical therapy is one of the most important in rehabilitation (Paknys, 2011). In the treatment of back pain, often forgotten electrical and nerve stimulation, which often greatly reduces amount of drugs used to relive pain (Kriščiūnas ir kt., 2016). The final work object – The impact of physiotherapy and electric stimulation for patients with spinal disc herniation. The aim of work – to evaluate impact of physiotherapy and electric stimulation for patients with spinal disc herniation. Characteristics of the study. This study was conducted February – May 2017 in UAB „Sveikatos centras Gemma“. The study involved 20 subjects, who have been diagnosed spinal disc herniation. Subject were randomly divided into two groups. In group I electrical stimulation was applied before physiotherapy, group II – after physiotherapy, with this parameters: pulse frequency – 80 Hz, pulse width – 120 μs, time – 20 min. this study conducted using the following test methods: trunk endurance test (McGill), visual analog pain scale , straight leg test. Results of the study led to the main conclusions: evaluating both groups impact of physiotherapy and electric stimulation for patients with spinal disc herniation, data show that pain, functional status and trunk endurance increase in both groups. Comparing the two groups, the results showed that the static trunk muscle endurance results were better in first group, but there was very insignificant difference of pain and functional condition indicators between the groups. The practical significance of the results and application possibilities indicates that data from this study maybe useful for rehabilitation improving the quality of service.
