Antecedentes: La terapia periodontal no quirúrgica puede mejorar los valores inmunológicos y periodontales en pacientes diagnosticados con VIH. Objetivo: Evaluar la efectividad del tratamiento periodontal no quirúrgico en sujetos diagnosticados con el virus de la inmunodeficiencia humana (VIH) y periodontitis. Materiales y Métodos: Dos revisores calibrados realizaron una búsqueda electrónica sistemática de manera independiente y por duplicado en las bases de datos PubMed, Cochrane Library y ScIELO hasta diciembre del 2024 . La selección de los estudios se realizó mediante un proceso riguroso de evaluación cruzada, para garantizar la imparcialidad y objetividad en la recopilación de datos. Resultados: Se evaluaron 622 artículos, de los cuales 4 cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión y fueron analizados. Los estudios seleccionados implementaron terapia periodontal no quirúrgica (raspado y alisado radicular) en pacientes diagnosticados con VIH y periodontitis. La calidad metodológica se evaluó utilizando la escala Newcastle-Ottawa para estudios observacionales. Conclusión: El tratamiento periodontal no quirúrgico mejora la salud bucal y el estado inmunológico en pacientes VIH positivos, estabilizando el recuento de CD4 y reduciendo la carga viral. Además disminuye la profundidad de sondaje y mejora la inserción clínica durante los primeros 90 días. Sin embargo, la variabilidad en diagnósticos y la falta de comparadores dificultan la generalización de los resultados.
