Abstract
La Direction de la gestion des pêches de Pêches et Océans Canada (MPO) a demandé qu’un point de référence limite (PRL) conforme à l’approche de précaution du MPO (MPO 2009) soit déterminé pour la zone de gestion des stocks (ZGS) de saumon chinook de l’Okanagan (Plan de gestion intégrée des pêches (PGIP), et que l’état du stock par rapport à ce point de référence soit évalué. Bien qu’aucun PRL n’ait été officiellement défini auparavant pour ce stock, il a été déterminé que ce dernier était épuisé au point où il nécessitait un plan de rétablissement. Un plan de rétablissement a donc récemment été élaboré pour le stock et approuvé en avril 2024. Celui-ci prévoyait un PRL provisoire, qui sera officiellement examiné ici. L’objectif de ce processus est d’évaluer l’état du saumon chinook de l’Okanagan et d’examiner le PRL provisoire défini dans le plan de rétablissement. La présente réponse des Sciences découle de l’examen par les pairs du 29 avril au 3 mai 2024 sur l’Evaluation du stock saumon chinook (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha) de l’Okanagan de 2024.
