Este trabajo estudió los mecanismos de adsorción de una formulación binaria de surfactantes (80% Novel TDA-6 no iónico y 20% Petrostep S13D aniónico) en dos sustratos mineralógicos contrastantes: la Formación Carbonera (arenisca cuarzosa con arcillas y carbonatos) y la Arena Ottawa (cuarzo puro). La investigación combinó caracterización mineralógica (DRX), mediciones de tensión interfacial y análisis de isotermas de adsorción estática para evaluar cómo la composición mineral afecta la adsorción de surfactantes. Los resultados demostraron diferencias significativas en los mecanismos de adsorción entre ambos sustratos. En la Formación Carbonera, se identificaron tres procesos clave: adsorción electrostática del surfactante aniónico en bordes de arcillas y calcita, formación de puentes de hidrógeno con el surfactante no iónico, y rechazo hidrófobo. La concentración micelar crítica (CMC) de la formulación fue de 91.25 ppm. En contraste, la Arena Ottawa mostró una adsorción notablemente menor, dominada por interacciones débiles (van der Waals) debido a su homogeneidad mineralógica y ausencia de sitios activos. El estudio reveló que la heterogeneidad mineralógica incrementa la capacidad adsorbente al proporcionar múltiples mecanismos de interacción. Las isotermas siguieron el modelo de dos pasos (Zhu & Gu), mostrando una correlación directa entre la complejidad mineralógica y la eficiencia de adsorción.
