Abstract
Cet article explore le déploiement des technologies numériques au sein des syndicats, et ses répercussions sur le déficit démocratique de genre. Il s’appuie sur une étude de cas menée auprès d’un syndicat dans le secteur de la santé et des services sociaux au Québec. Les données ont été recueillies auprès de personnes élues siégeant aux échelons national et local. Les résultats révèlent un paradoxe : d’un côté, la participation aux instances syndicales à distance, rendue possible par le numérique, est perçue comme une opportunité favorisant un meilleur équilibre entre vie syndicale, professionnelle et personnelle pour les femmes et leur permettant d’être des actrices leur propre engagement syndical; de l’autre, elle est perçue comme un vecteur de reproduction, voire d’accentuation, des inégalités de genre, suscitant des inquiétudes quant au risque de reléguer les femmes à un rôle de spectatrices de leur propre engagement syndical.
