Abstract
L’opposition entre le multiculturalisme canadien et le républicanisme français fournit une réponse partielle à la politisation ou dépolitisation de la diaspora haïtienne en France et au Québec. Cette thèse aborde cette problématique à partir des déterminants sociaux. A partir d’une approche transnationale et comparative, cette thèse tente d’expliquer l’intégration politique de cette diaspora dans ces territoires d’installation et dans le pays d’origine malgré les différents obstacles empêchant leur participation politique : hostilité des acteurs nationaux, absence d’organisation de vote à l’étranger, citoyenneté exclusive aux nationaux et aux naturalisés, politique de naturalisation très restrictive. Malgré tout, ils développent des stratégies les permettant d’être à la fois ici et ailleurs. Le développement des médias sociaux amplifie cette participation politique. Dans les pays d’installation, les Haïtiens et leurs descendants sont dans une logique de redéfinition d’une identité plurielle avec des éléments issus de pays d’origine, du pays d’accueil et de la diaspora. Cette thèse conclut que la politisation des immigrés dépend de leur statut social dans le pays d’accueil. Toutefois, l’influence des systèmes politiques sur l’intégration politique des migrants haïtiens est à considérer. C’est pour cela que le multiculturalisme canadien parait plus favorable à une politisation que le système républicain français.
