Kosova’nın Yakova şehir merkezi, Kosar Mahallesi’nde bulunan Kosar Camisi, Yakova’nın Osmanlı Devleti’nin eline geçmesinden 250 yıl sonra, yani 1805-1806 (H.1220) yılında Kosar Ailesinden Süleymanoğlu Mehmet Bey tarafından yaptırılmıştır. Makalemizde, yapının önemine değinilerek, yaptığımız proje çalışmaları anlatılacaktır. Makalemizdeki anlatımda verildiği üzere Kosar Camisi’nin, bölge ve dünya kültür tarihi açısından önemi dikkate alınarak sağlamlaştırılarak korunması, yaşatılması ve gelecek nesillere aktarılması büyük önem taşımaktadır. Bu nedenle restorasyon projesine büyük önem verilmiş ve müdahale kararları bilimsel sonuçlar dikkate alınarak verilmiştir. Kosar Camisi, kareye yakın dikdörtgen planlı, ahşap düz tavanlı kırma çatılıdır. Kuzeyinde üç bölümlü bir son cemaat yeri ile batısında kare kaideli bir minaresi vardır. Güney cephenin ekseninde yarım yuvarlak, silindirik gövdeli bir mihrap nişi bulunmaktadır. Caminin rölöve, restitüsyon ve restorasyon projelerinin hazırlanması ve projenin uygulanması konusunda, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Başbakanlık Vakıflar Genel Müdürlüğü (VGM) ile Kosova İslam Birliği arasında bir anlaşma imzalanmıştır.
