La lithiase urinaire est un trouble urologique très ancien et courant avec sa prévalence mondiale, son étiologie multifactorielle, son taux de récidive accru et ses conséquences graves. Cette étude vise à passer en revue les enquêtes ethnobotaniques, les études in vivo et in vitro qui ont été menées dans la région nord- africaine pour identifier les plantes utilisées par les populations locales dans la réduction ou la prévention de la formation de calculs ainsi qu’inventorier celles utilisées dans la médecine traditionnelle algérienne. Les données concernant l'utilisation des plantes médicinales contre la lithiase urinaire ont été rassemblées à partir de documents publiés sur les différentes bases de données (Google Scholar, PubMed, Science Direct). Une enquête ethnobotanique a été menée auprès de la population algérienne au moyen d'un questionnaire structuré réalisé avec Google Forms et partagé sur les différentes plateformes en ligne. L’analyse de littérature a permis de recenser 192 espèces végétales utilisées dans le traitement traditionnel de la lithiase urinaire dont 32 ont prouvé leur efficacité sur la cristallisation in vitro et 9 sur la cristallisation in vivo. Notre enquête a permis d’inventorier 32 espèces utilisées par la population algérienne. Cette étude constitue une documentation utile qui peut contribuer à promouvoir l'utilisation des plantes médicinales.
